📖 Synopsis (សេចក្តីសង្ខេប)
Once upon a time in a prosperous Khmer village, there lived a wealthy merchant named Ta Touch (តាទទឹក) . After his wife passed away, he raised his four sons alone. In his old age, he generously divided his wealth equally among them, hoping they would care for him in return. However, blinded by greed and influenced by their wives, the four sons abandoned their aging father, leaving him destitute and alone.
The old man wandered the streets in rags, begging for food. A kind-hearted young scholar named Puth (ពុទ្ធ) took pity on him and devised a clever plan to teach the ungrateful sons a lesson. He instructed the father to bury a jar filled with human waste and claim it was a treasure of gold.
When the greedy sons heard the rumor, they rushed back to serve their father, showering him with food, clothing, and affection. After the old man's death, they fought over the "treasure," only to be humiliated in front of the entire village. The story serves as a timeless reminder of the virtue of gratitude and the consequences of filial ingratitude.
